I know a secret!

In all actuality it is not a secret but rather some inside information. Tool is recording a new album. No idea when it will be released but Maynard left yesterday to start it. Sometime late 2011 is all I am finding. None the less exciting!

Speaking of Tool and Maynard I just came home from a long weekend in Jerome where Maynard lives. To say it was an amazing time is such an understatement it is almost painful to write. It was beyond amazing. It transcends words. Unfortunately there were no Maynard sightings due to him working on the new album.  I did meet many people who knew him. Namely the woman who was looking after the bed and breakfast we stayed at. She would entertain us with stories of the rock god as we sat wide eyed and silent over our quiche. (btw Vicky made everything from scratch and when I tried her ciabatta french toast I died a little on the inside) See Vicky knows Maynard because she ran the mail for the town and works at local restaurant he frequents. But Maynard loves her because other than that she has no idea who he is. All she knows is he has a band and says weird shit like "Vicky, tell me what I am going to have for lunch today." When she drives past him while he is out walking he salutes her and she throws her hands up in a WTF motion while he laughs. He is weird but most people who live in Jerome are.

The second thing Maynard is famous for is his wine. Again I am at a loss for words to describe just how good it is. Yeah, no words. All I know is, as I was sitting in the jacuzzi tub with my husband drinking a glass or three of the pink table wine I was deliriously happy. It was like sensory overload in a very good way. That was another highlight of the trip. (no not the jacuzzi tub perves!)  The wine and the fact that Vicky gave us a signed bottle of Maynards white blend. Signed. By Maynard. With his signature. On the bottle. I'm going to give you a few seconds to let that process.....OMG I KNOW RIGHT!!!! The bottle is worth more than we paid for the room and she just gave it to us as long as we traded her one of our bottles so she could actually drink it. Maynards signature is rare and hard to come by. He is reclusive and put off by fame so this makes it extra special. The signature even has his fingerprint in it from where he touched it when he handed the bottle off.

It's okay for you to be jealous of me. I understand.

So back to the music. While my husband is a huge Tool fan, I have an unhealthy obsession with A Perfect Circle. Musically and lyrically it just...speaks to me?  Three Libras, Passive and Sleeping Beauty have always been favorites of mine but right now it is The Noose. It has been a long day and I am rapidly becoming less and less coherent. So the only way I can think to end this blog is with the song and lyrics.

 The Noose

So glad to see you well

Overcome and completely silent now

With heaven's help

You cast your demons out

And not to pull your halo down

Around your neck and tug you off your cloud

But I'm more than just a little curious

How you're planning to go about

Making your amends to the dead

To the dead

Recall the deeds as if

They're all someone else's

Atrocious stories

Now you stand reborn before us all

So glad to see you well

And not to pull your halo down

Around your neck and tug you to the ground

But I'm more than just a little curious

How you're planning to go about

Making your amends to the dead

To the dead

With your halo slipping down

Your halo slipping

Your halo slipping down

Your halo slipping down

Your halo slipping down [repeated]

Your halo slipping down to choke you now
